Resoling involves replacing the worn sole of a shoe to restore its performance and extend its lifespan. With the "Resoling" service, it is possible to combine this replacement with additional repairs (seams, tears, etc.). The "Repairs" service focuses only on repairing damaged areas without changing the sole.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION ABOUT RESOLING
What is Resoling?
Resoling involves removing the front part of the old sole from your climbing shoe and replacing it with a new one. This method prevents layering of soles, ensuring a return to the original performance of your equipment.
When should I resole my climbing shoes?
It is time to resole when the sole, especially the front toe area or the inner edge, is worn or significantly damaged. Delaying the repair can lead to a hole in the shoe, making it irreparable.
Should I also replace the rand?
The rand is the rubber coating that surrounds the toe of the climbing shoe. If it is worn out, it is recommended to replace it at the same time as the resoling to prevent rapid wear after the repair.
What should I do if my climbing shoe has a hole?
If the hole is smaller than 5 mm², a repair by stitching is possible, although it involves an additional cost. If the leather is damaged but not perforated, reinforcement by stitching will be necessary.
Can I choose the sole for resoling?
We offer different rubber qualities to suit your needs. Here are the available options:
Standard rubber:
- TRACTOR (Excellent grip and flexibility, ideal for outdoor climbing. Good versatility)
- ENDURO (Increased durability while maintaining good grip)
- INDOOR (Enhanced durability with good grip on artificial holds, and non-marking)
Performance rubber:
- XS GRIP (Very soft and grippy, medium durability. Ideal for smearing and rounded holds)
- XS EDGE (Very precise and rigid, ideal for outdoor climbing. Designed for micro holds)
Où puis-je apporter mon chausson pour le ressemelage ?

What is the warranty?
We guarantee the quality of the resoling, including a free correction service for any gluing or finishing defect detected upon receipt or after a few uses.

CLIMBING SHOES RESOLING: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
Resoling a pair of climbing shoes can be more complex than it seems and requires real expertise to diagnose the necessary repairs.
It is always best not to wait until the shoes are too worn before proceeding with a resole.
Resoling involves replacing the sole (without touching the rand).
The sole is generally very worn at the toe and often on the inner edge. While it initially measures between 3.5 mm and 5 mm in thickness depending on the model and type of rubber, only a thin layer of about 1 mm may remain, mainly at the front of the shoe, indicating that a resole is necessary.
Climbers do not always notice this need, as the rubber on the sole remains thick on the sides, especially on the outer edge. Additionally, the rand may create the illusion that there is still enough rubber under the shoe.
Note: When the sole is very worn at the toe, it may start to peel off. This phenomenon is common, regardless of the climbing shoe brand or type of rubber used. It is not a manufacturing defect but simply a sign that a resole is needed.
However, if detachment appears while the sole rubber is still thick, this may indicate a manufacturing defect.
Warning: The glue used to attach the sole is sensitive to heat. A pair of climbing shoes left too long in the sun, inside a car, or washed in hot water (above 30°C) may experience sole and rand detachment. In direct sunlight, less than an hour can be enough to cause significant damage.
Toe Cap Repair
This involves replacing the rand rubber on the toe of the climbing shoe, a particularly exposed area due to friction. It is advisable to resole before the rand gets punctured or too thin to avoid additional, more expensive repairs.
Note: Toe rand replacement is done per shoe since one shoe may be more worn than the other. Climbers often put more pressure on one foot than the other.
If you want both toe caps to be replaced systematically, you must specify it clearly on the order form. Otherwise, our resole technicians will only perform the necessary repairs to restore the shoe optimally.
The rand may appear intact (no visible holes), but it may be very thin and require replacement.
In fact, the rand extends under the sole. To ensure a clean and durable repair, it is preferable to replace it at the same time as the resole.
If the rand is too thin and not replaced during resoling, a hole may appear after just a few climbing sessions, reaching the leather or microfiber, while the sole is still in good condition. It would be unfortunate to have to resole prematurely just to change the rand.
Sometimes, a hole is located at the edge or slightly under the sole and is not visible from the outside. When we remove the sole, we may discover it.
Even if it is small, a hole in the rand must be repaired, as gluing a sole onto a weakened rand could lead to premature detachment.
If a punctured rand is not repaired, we may refuse to resole the shoe since its durability cannot be guaranteed. However, each case is evaluated based on the overall condition of the shoe.
Similarly, a hole in the leather or microfiber under the rand must be repaired before a resole can be performed.
Estimates and Unexpected Issues
Our estimates are always made with the possibility of discovering additional issues after the sole is removed. If there is any doubt about a repair, we can only confirm it once the sole has been completely removed.
Thus, the estimated cost may be adjusted up or down. However, we strive to set it as accurately as possible from the beginning.
Important: Our resole technicians have no financial interest in suggesting unnecessary repairs. Changing the rand rubber is a time-consuming task with low profit, and it is always decided based on precise criteria to ensure a durable repair.
However, rand wear depends on several factors, including the surfaces the climber uses. The technician’s judgment remains subjective and is based on their expertise.
Note: Sometimes, a shoe may look fine from the outside, but removing the sole reveals damage too severe to be repaired. This is especially true for leather shoes, as sweat acidity can alter their internal structure.
Our technicians cannot always detect these problems before removing the sole. If the internal structure is too damaged, resoling is impossible. In this case, we return the pair without soles so the customer can see the extent of the damage. This phenomenon is rare but can happen.
Complete Rand Replacement
The complete rand replacement is necessarily done on both shoes rather than individually, as such a repair generally concerns very worn shoes. This process also helps restore some symmetry between the two feet.
We replace the rand on three-quarters of the shoe, which is sufficient and appropriate for models with tension rubber at the back.
Note: In the case of minor rand detachments, it is sometimes possible to simply re-glue the affected areas without replacing the entire rand. Depending on the extent of the detachment, this service may be performed for free or at a reduced cost.
By following these recommendations, you will extend the lifespan of your climbing shoes and benefit from a durable, high-quality resole.
