Frequently Asked Questions

It is preferable to resole your climbing shoes before the internal structure of the shoe is affected, i.e., before the rubber coating wears through to the tip of the shoe.

In order to preserve the original fit of each pair of climbing shoes, we use customized forms (size, shape) before completely removing the worn-out sole. However, depending on the condition of the shoes, it is possible that the sensation after resoling may be very slightly altered.

The services we offer and the prices of the services can be found here.

The choice of rubber is made from the following rubbers: Formula Rubber (tractor or enduro) and Vibram (vibram tradi, XS grip, and Edge).

In the absence of indication from you, our team will use "at no extra cost" rubber that closely matches the original rubber on your shoes.

Our team is also available to advise you according to your practice. Feel free to leave us a note when sending your shoes so we can agree on the most suitable rubber together.

Andrea Boldrini climbing shoes, unless otherwise indicated, are resoled with the original soles.

For other brands, without specific indication from you, the climbing shoes are resoled with rubber that closely matches the original rubber at no extra cost.

When the rubber coating on the top of the shoe over the toe area has a hole, but also when this part is simply weakened (very thin)!

It is always very delicate to determine if a "toe" (R1) needs to be replaced when it is not pierced: to get an idea, you can feel this area, which will need to be replaced if it feels "soft" instead of being very firm.

It is important to note that this part goes under the sole. Therefore, a new sole will not hold on weakened coating rubber and will pierce even before your new soles are worn out. It is therefore preferable to anticipate its refurbishment to allow you to optimize your resoling and thus avoid two resolings in a short time.

Depending on the periods and unforeseen circumstances, our lead times can vary from one to four weeks. We cannot guarantee our lead times because we cannot anticipate the daily volume of shoes entrusted to us. Therefore, if you have planned holidays or a climbing trip, it is necessary to plan ahead!

Depending on the size of the hole and the overall condition of the internal structure of the shoes, it is possible to "patch" the hole and still be able to resole your pair. This operation incurs an additional cost (R4) but may, in some cases, result in a slight loss of sensitivity.

We therefore advise you to stop using your shoes as soon as the sole reaches a thickness of 0.5 - 1mm and before piercing the rubber coating over the toe. By preserving the internal structure of your shoes, you allow us to resole them in a way that optimizes their lifespan and also preserves their technical characteristics for as long as possible.

No, this is not possible. Repairing a damaged toe or rand is an essential step in resoling. In fact, the toe and the rand include a part that is located under the sole, making their repair impossible without performing a complete resole.

All models of all brands can be resoled. However, we may issue reservations depending on the overall condition of the shoes.

Indeed, the "rubber coating" service (R2) corresponds to the replacement of the rubber on a much larger area at the toe and laterally. This operation is carried out when the rubbers are torn, worn out, cracked... making the repair in "toe" mode impossible to perform.

You can resole a pair of climbing shoes as many times as you want as long as the internal structure of the shoe allows it and the rubbers are still of good quality.

Leather shoes should not be washed directly with water; the leather would become "brittle". It is preferable to brush them with a damp cloth inside.

Microfiber shoes can be washed cold in the washing machine. It is important not to dry them in the dryer, near a heat source (fireplace, radiator...) or in direct sunlight as this could cause the rubber to detach.

There are also natural products that you can spray into your shoes to neutralize the proliferation of bacteria and thus limit bad odors.

Unfortunately, not all hiking shoe models can be resoled identically, as the original soles are reserved for manufacturers and are not available. However, we have developed a process that allows us to give a second life to your shoes using available soles (Vibram or Davos). If in doubt, we advise you to send us a photo of the external profile of your shoes so we can tell you what can be done. Please send the photo to the following email address: contact@risuola.com.

The types of soles available are:

  • Cup soles
  • Soles with molded midsole or EVA
  • Running soles
  • Flat soles
  • Soles with shock-absorbing heel

The choice of soles is made from the brands Vibram and Davos, two Italian manufacturers with a well-established reputation!

For certain models, we can only install one type of sole, but for others, we can change either the flat sole or the entire sole block. The condition of your midsole will be the determining factor.

If the sole and the coating are part of a single block, you will need to choose between two options: the first option is to redo the rubber coating (full coating), and the second is to place a cup sole, which may not completely cover the traces of your old soles.

In general, all boots are resoleable, but this possibility depends on the availability of soles.

Our professional equipment allows us to change the soles of any type of boots; however, some brands do not provide original soles (such as Axo for molded soles, SIDI).

Yes, it is entirely possible to send us your pair of soles along with your boots. For any resoling request with original soles, we ask our customers to provide us with the soles and inserts.

It is very important to be vigilant about the size of the soles you provide us with, as well as the correspondence between the boots and the soles. Indeed, some boot models have retained the same name but have evolved, thus modifying the shape of the soles (see Tech 7 and 10), soles that are not interchangeable.

We only provide flat Vibram soles for motocross, enduro, and trial.

Yes, we can raise the midsole (the part between the sole and the boot structure) to increase the total thickness and thus gain a few centimeters. However, this possibility is not feasible for boot types with "molded" soles. This can only be done on boots with flat soles, such as Gaerne, for example.

Resoling only one boot out of two could become inconvenient in your practice. Your boots will not wear evenly on each side, and you may feel the difference. If you only resole one boot out of two, the second one will need to be resoled shortly afterward. They will never be identical. Additionally, soles are provided in pairs, and the price of the service remains the same even if we only resole one boot out of two.
